Running prospects 2011

Players in the organization are ranked according to steals per game times success rate. Everyone with three or more steals as of the close of business on May 6 is shown here.

In case you think that players who run well are not coveted by major-league teams, five of the top ten finishers in last year’s final version of this list were involved in trades in the past year. Four were traded by the Cubs–Guyer, Lee, Fuld and Thomas–and one, Evan Crawford, was traded to the Cubs. Fernando Perez, acquired in the Garza deal, is also a speedster.

Note, May 23:
With Szczur and Jackson on the shelf over the past week–Szczur returned to action and stole a base yesterday (Sunday)–Junior Lake has seized the lead in SBs.

Note, July 6:
Jackson injured his finger sliding on May 11th, and didn’t steal another base until July 3rd.

Notes, August 8:
After returning from the DL on July 23, Adduci is 7 for 7 in SBs and has risen to the top of the rankings. Newcomer Taiwan Easterling vaults to #3 on the list.
